Nashville - HCA - Intermediate Robotics and Coding- Spring Semester
Intermediate Robotics and Coding
Ages 10-14
and those who completed Intro to Robotics
This intermediate course builds upon the foundations learned in our introductory program, diving deeper into robotics concepts, mechanical design and more advanced Scratch programming techniques. Get ready to create more complex and interactive robots!
Course Highlights:
Servo Motos and Advanced Mechanisms: Explore the world of servo motors, which allow for precise angular control, enabling your robots to perform more sophisticated movements. Students will learn how to integrate servos into their designs and create robots with articulated limbs, grippers, and other complex mechanisms.
In-Depth Scratch Programming: We'll go beyond the basics of Scratch, exploring more advanced programming concepts like variables, functions, conditional statements (if/else), and loops.
Advanced Sensor Integration:: Learn how to combine sensor data to create robots that can make decisions and react to their environment in more sophisticated ways.
Debugging and Troubleshooting: Learn effective strategies for debugging code and troubleshooting mechanical issues. Develop problem-solving skills by identifying and fixing errors in your programs and robot designs.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to :
Understand and utilize servo motors in their robot designs
Write more complex and efficient programs in Scratch, using advanced programming concepts
Integrate and utilize additional IR sensors to create more interactive robots
Effectively debug code and troubleshoot mechanical problems
Who should attend?
This course is designed for students ages 10-14 who have some prior experience with robotics and coding, ideally having completed our introductory course. Students should be comfortable with basic Scratch programming concepts and have a passion for building and creating.
Get ready to push your robotics and coding skills to the next level!
