Introduction to Robotics

Ages 8-13

This 9 week program has been designed to introduce young students to:

• dc motors

• mainboards

• switches

• gears

• IR sensors

• wired and wireless controllers

• LEDs

In our classes, each student builds a different robot each week. All of our lessons have a game, challenge or fun activity that is designed for each robot and encourages the kids to modify the bot design to improve its performance. 

Week 1: Introduction to building cells, switches, batteries, and dc motors
S1DC-B (1 Switch, DC Motor and Battery)
 

Week 2: Introduction to the mainboard and wired controller

F1 Racer

Week 3: Introduction to use of gears

Mini Tank

Week 4: Introduce different motor orientation and mainboard mode

Electronic Turret

Week 5: Introduce IR sensors

Line Following Robot - Crawling Puppy

Week 6: Adding a third motor

Spinning Blade Battle Bot

Week 7:Different application of IR Sensors

IR Ring Toss

Week 8: Introduce Wireless Controllers

Battle Tank Options

Week 9: Build Your Own

Students are provided with instructions on how to build the chassis of a moving robot and are encourage to Build Your Own Robot.
