Introduction to Robotics

Saturdays, 10:00-11:30

This 5 week session has been designed to introduce young students to:

• dc motors

• mainboards

• switches

• gears

• IR sensors

• wired controllers

• LEDs

In our classes, each student builds a different robot each week. All of our lessons have a game, challenge or fun activity that is designed for each robot and encourages the kids to modify the bot design to improve its performance. 

Week 1: Introduction to building cells, switches, batteries, dc motors and crown gear
Single Prop Plan or Wright Brothers Plane
  

Week 2: Introduction to the mainboard and wired controller

Week 3: Introduction to use of gears

Week 4 : Introduce IR sensors

Line Following Robot - Crawling Puppy

Week 5: Build Your Own

Students are provided with instructions on how to build the chassis of a moving robot and are encouraged to Build Your Own Robot.
